Haemorrhoids, or commonly known as piles are the varicose veins appear inside or slightly outside the anus. There are various causes of haemorrhoids, but the exact reason is not known. There are a few groups of people who are prone to develop haemorrhoid, for example those of family history, pregnancy or the type of occupation that requires standing for long hours. One of the common causes of haemorrhoid is the constipation, it can increase the pressure inside the abdomen that makes bowel motion strenuous. In Sclerotherapy, injecting the chemical in the blood vessels does servicing of haemorrhoids. This chemical will cause the spasm in the vessels and seal shut. Haemorrhoids will then shrivel due to lack of nutrients and oxygen.

Ligation, on the other hand uses a tight rubberband cuts off blood supply to the haemorrhoids. Haemorrhoids shrivel due to lack of nutrients and oxygen. Laser surgery is a simpler process, it uses targeted laser beam to burn the haemorrhoids.

Haemorrhoidectomy is the most common form of haemorrhoid surgery. It is done using general anaesthesia and a special device is inserted into the anus by the surgeon to see the haemorrhoids. Laser, scalpel or staple gun is used to remove the haemorrhoids. Anus and rectum membrane lining are then sewn to the muscle so that recurrence of haemorrhoids can be prevented.

After the haemorrhoid surgery, you need to lie down and take a rest on your back with a floatation pillow put under your buttocks as a support. Sometimes, icepack is used to provide quick relief to pain on the anal area.

To achieve fast recovery from haemorrhoid surgery, it is important that you follow a strict diet and eat more fruits and vegetables. When your body absorbs more fiber, it will help to lower the chances of constipation. Drink more water to ensure that your body get replenish of the water. If you need to move the bowels often, you can use the over the counter laxatives to get over it.
